How this site makes money
The complete list of commercial arrangements on this site. It is short, because there are none.
Status right now: no advertising, no affiliate links, no sponsored content, no paid listings, and no revenue of any kind. Every outbound link on this site points to a source cited for a number, and none of them are monetized.
What would change if that changes
Running a site like this costs money, and the plausible ways it could pay for itself are ordinary ones. If any of them are adopted, this page changes before the change goes live, and each one is labeled where a reader encounters it:
- Display advertising. Ads would be served by an ad network, visually separated from editorial content, and never placed to look like a recommendation. Advertisers do not see, approve, or influence any page before publication.
- Affiliate links. If a link earns a commission, it is disclosed next to the link, not only on this page, in line with the US Federal Trade Commission's guidance on endorsements and testimonials.
- Referral or lead arrangements. If a page offers to connect a reader with a provider, insurer, or placement service, the page will say who will contact them and what the site receives, before any contact details are requested.
- Sponsored content. If it ever exists, it is labeled as sponsored at the top of the page, and it does not appear inside the nursing home directory.
What payment will never buy
No amount of money changes which facilities are listed, where they rank, or what their ratings say. Directory inclusion follows one rule and only one: the facility is certified by CMS and appears in the federal registry. Its star ratings, inspection findings, fines, and enforcement flags are CMS's, reproduced as published. A facility cannot pay to remove a deficiency, suppress an abuse icon, or move up a table.
The same applies to editorial pages. Cost figures are chosen because they are the best sourced numbers available, not because someone paid for them to be shown.
Cite us, don't trust us
Every figure links to its primary source. If a number here conflicts with the source, the source is right and this page has a bug: tell hello@carecostcompass.com and it gets fixed.
