What this site does and does not collect. The short version: almost nothing, and nothing you type.

What you type stays in your browser
The cost calculator is a script that runs on your own device. The care type, state, hours, income, and savings you enter are used to do arithmetic in your browser and are never sent to us or to anyone else. There is no server that receives them, no database that stores them, and no account to create. Closing the tab discards them.
This site collects no contact information at all. There is no enquiry form, no newsletter, no account, and no way to submit a phone number or email address through this site. The cost calculator runs entirely in your browser and transmits nothing.
Analytics
This site currently runs no analytics of any kind. No analytics script is loaded, no traffic measurement is performed, and no usage data is collected by us.
If analytics is active, it records which pages are read and how visitors arrive. It does not record what you type, and we do not attempt to identify individual readers.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own and stores nothing in your browser's local storage. Because no cookies are set, you will not see a cookie banner here.
This site currently shows no advertising. No ad network script is loaded, no advertising cookie is set, and no data is passed to an advertiser or data broker. If advertising is added later, this page will be updated before the first ad appears, and consent will be collected where the law requires it.
Server logs
Like every website, the servers that deliver these pages record standard request information: the IP address making the request, the page requested, the time, and the browser's user-agent string. This is generated by our hosting provider for security, abuse prevention, and capacity planning, and it is retained for a short period under that provider's policy. We do not combine it with anything else or use it to build profiles.
Links to other sites
Citations point to CMS, KFF, CareScout, A Place for Mom, and other publishers. Those sites have their own privacy policies and their own cookies, and this policy stops at the edge of this site.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal data is held about you, to correct or delete it, to object to its processing, or to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We hold no personal data about readers, so in practice there is nothing to retrieve: we cannot look up a visitor, because we never created a record of one. If you believe we hold something about you, write to hello@carecostcompass.com and we will answer, and delete it if it exists.
Children
This site is written for adults making decisions about care for themselves or a family member. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above changes with it. Material changes, such as adding advertising or a contact form, will be described in plain language here rather than buried in a revision.
